Your First Visit, Step by Step
This walk-through uses Chaturbate, because it is the simplest to try for free. Stripchat works in a very similar way, and we note the differences as we go.
Open the site and confirm your age
You may be asked to confirm you are an adult. In some US states the platform must check your age more formally before letting you in. That is normal and required by local law.
Watch without an account
Public rooms can be watched for free. Use the mature section or the #mature tag to find performers. Nobody can see you, and nothing is charged.
Create a free account, if you want to chat
An account lets you type in a room's chat. Chaturbate does not ask for a card to join. Choose a username unrelated to your real name, and use an email address you keep just for this.
Switch on two-step verification
Chaturbate supports it. It means a password alone is not enough to get into your account.
Buy a small pack of tokens, only if you want to
Tokens are what you tip with. Chaturbate values 200 tokens at $20.99. On Stripchat, click the green plus (+) button at the top of the page to see packs and prices for your country. Leave Chaturbate's Auto Refill switched off.
Tip, if a show deserves it
Many rooms show a tip menu listing what each amount asks for. Tipping is entirely optional.
Ask for a private show
Before you agree, Chaturbate shows the price per minute, the minimum number of minutes and whether you will get a recording. It is sensible to agree with the performer in chat what the show will include. On Stripchat, an Exclusive Private means nobody else can watch.
End the show when you are ready
On Chaturbate, either you or the performer can click "End Private Show". On Stripchat, a private also stops by itself if your tokens run out.
Sign out
Especially on a shared computer or tablet. A private browsing window helps too.
