Cam Site Glossary

Every term you are likely to meet, explained in a sentence or two. Terms specific to one platform are marked.

Token: The currency used on cam sites. You buy tokens with money, then spend them on tips and shows. Chaturbate values 200 tokens at $20.99.
Public room: A free broadcast anyone can watch. Performers earn from optional tips.
Tip: Tokens you send to a performer as thanks. Always optional.
Tip menu: A list a performer posts showing token amounts and what each one asks for.
Goal: A shared tipping target in a room. Everyone's tips count toward it.
Private show: One-on-one time with a performer, charged per minute at her rate. Chaturbate also shows a minimum length before you agree.
Spy show: Watching someone else's private show for a per-minute charge, without joining the chat.
Premium private (Chaturbate): A private show that nobody can spy on, usually priced higher.
Exclusive Private (Stripchat): A private show with no spying and an optional two-way camera.
Two-way cam: Turning on your own camera so the performer can see you. Always optional.
Group show (Stripchat): A shared private where each viewer pays per minute while they stay. Reserving a place is free until it starts.
Ticket show: A show with one fixed entry price. On Stripchat tickets cost 8 to 1,000 tokens; on Chaturbate you buy one by tipping a set amount.
Password show (Chaturbate): A room locked with a password. Any agreed amount is tipped beforehand.

Ultimate (Stripchat): A membership with invisible mode, anonymous tips and stream previews. No tokens included.
Invisible mode (Stripchat): Performers do not see you in their viewer list.
Auto Refill (Chaturbate): An optional setting that rebuys your last token pack when your balance runs low. We suggest leaving it off.
My Collection: Where recordings of private shows are kept, when the performer allows recording.
Tag: A label a performer gives her own room, such as #mature. A description, not a check.
Category (Stripchat): A grouping. Age, country and language come from identity documents; others come from profiles.
Billing name: The company name on your statement. Stripchat uses payment companies such as EPOCH.COM.
Web app: A website you can pin to your phone's home screen. Neither platform has an official app in the app stores.
